As the Second World War draws to a close, works of art that were stolen in Europe for the planned Führer Museum in Linz are stored in the tunnels of the Altaussee salt mine. In order not to leave the treasures to the approaching enemy, Gauleiter Eigruber orders them to be blown up, but the miners resist. Friends Sepp and Franz are at the forefront of the resistance.
