In der Medizinszene Sydneys ist der Herzchirurg Hugh Knight ein Star. Er ist aber auch berüchtigt für seinen losen Lebenswandel. Eines Tages wacht Knight nach einer durchfeierten Nacht in einem Hotel neben einem Model mit Überdosis auf. Als Chirurg ist er geliefert. Dem Überflieger bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als in seinen Heimatort zurückzukehren und als Hausarzt zu arbeiten.
