PETRO MELANCHOLIE – Film and Panel Discussion
Oil means wealth, power and dependence. In “Petro Melancholie,” Mathias Frick explores the emotional and cultural dimensions of our relationship with fossil fuels. The film takes viewers from abandoned oil rigs to glimmering gas stations and asks: What remains when oil runs out?
With essayistic depth, it evokes a melancholic portrait of an era nearing its end. “Petro Melancholie” is not a conventional environmental film but an atmospheric reflection on progress, loss, and the longing for another way of life, beyond the fossil (night)mare.
