In the Eye of the Storm. Mo­der­nism in Ukrai­ne 1900s–1930s

The first comprehensive exhibition of Ukrainian art from the beginning of the 20th century in leading European museums is presented.

The exhibition «In the Eye of the Storm. Modernism in Ukraine 1900s–1930s”, which will be shown at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, deals with modernism in Ukraine as it developed in the cultural centers of Kiev between 1900 and 1930 , Kharkiv and Odessa has developed. It is the first comprehensive exhibition of Ukrainian art from the beginning of the 20th century in leading European museums.

The exhibition project will be presented and discussed by curator and co-founder of the Foundation for the Study of the Avant-Garde Konstantin Akinsha, curator Kateryna Denysova, art expert and art collector James Butterwick, researcher and creative director at the Ukrainian Institute Tetyana Filevska, curator of the National Ukrainian Art Museum - Olena Koshuba -Volvach, the artistic director of the Tyssen Borneniscza Museum, Guillermo Solana and the art collector Andrey Adamovskiy. The talk will be moderated by Natalia Shpytkovska, director of the M17 Contemporary Art Center in Kiev.

The event will be held in English.
