The Face Reader is set in 15th-century Korea during the Joseon Dynasty and follows a gifted face reader with the ability to discern people’s character and fate through their facial features. Living on the margins of society, he is unexpectedly drawn into the complex and perilous world of royal court politics. As he encounters powerful figures and rival factions, his unique talent places him at the center of high-stakes decisions and moral dilemmas. Blending historical drama with political intrigue, the film explores themes of ambition, power, and fate, all seen through the art of physiognomy and the hidden meanings behind human faces.
