En­sem­ble Pho­enix Ba­sel plays Blan­ko 2022

On the one hand, we have been using this self-invented format for well over ten years, on the other hand, we have a particularly intensive bond through the unusually intensive way we work together and deal with two artists per season. Deliberately not coming from the usual curriculum of a composer's training, we bring lateral entrants, in the broadest sense "sonic artists", visual artists with a clear musical affinity etc. together with our experts for electronic or amplified music. This year we are planning our sound experiments with the Swiss drummer and sound innovator Lucas Niggli, who over the course of his career has written his love of experimentation and pioneering spirit in the search for new musical worlds down to his core. With the Swedish saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Mats Gustafsson, we were able to win a heavyweight of musical expressiveness. Gustafsson moves with virtuosity between the genres of free jazz, experimental rock, "noise" or "electronica" to dance theater.
