Futuristische Taxifahrten, Kleider, Frisuren, TV-Shows, Luxusdampfer und Opernklänge: All das und mehr bietet «Le cinquième élément». Kaum ein anderer Sci-Fi-Film feiert wohl so sehr das Theatrale, Frivole und Exzentrische. Kurzum, er ist ziemlich «camp». Auch daher dürfte sein Kultstatus rühren. Bezeichnenderweise erhielt der Film ebenso viel Lob wie Häme, Nominierungen für die Oscars sowie den Spottpreis «Die Goldene Himbeere». Memorable Szenen, ausgefallene Outfits und harte Dialoge!
