Line Marquis evokes the way nature repairs us, protects us and how it resists in our cities and our imaginations. Trees, children and humanist values (care, living together) are for her reasons for hope in a world that is often unjust, cruel and destructive.
Perhaps the most striking is his use of color, the audacity of those that are flashy, tangy, fluorescent, sometimes more muted, which immerse us in dreamlike landscapes where the desire to live is expressed with courage and hope.
Line Marquis' practice is nourished by the intertwining of her different lives: that of the artist, the mother, the committed woman and the citizen. At the center of his concerns are the collapse of our society, the questioning of the meaning of our time and the role of the artist in this chaos. Line Marquis paints in a quest for consolation, reconciliation and repair with reality. Similar to meditative spaces, his images confront us with our solitude in the face of the complexity of the world and the existential dizziness that this reality can provide.
A strong, committed and poetic work that inspires wonder while subtly questioning our way of inhabiting the world.
