SJO & Chris­toph Ir­ni­ger

An outstanding voice from the Swiss jazz scene is a guest – the saxophonist and composer Christoph Irniger. He has a special treat with him: Due to the special situation last year, he has implemented a long-cherished plan and written a big band program, which will be premiered by the SJO! Irniger is an exponent of a generation that pursues many stylistically heterogeneous projects. With his trio and his band "Pilgrim", the "Cowboys from Hell" and as a member of international projects, he has been running ensembles with very different and imaginative tonal identities for years. This is also reflected in his approach to the big band format: he combines the spontaneous with the planned and creates his very own atmosphere - orchestral, lively and full of surprises.
