Grandparents and grandchildren (2024, D)
In Germany, a third of people over 65 live alone, and 20 percent suffer from depression in old age. The majority maintain regular or at least sporadic contact with their families. Many grandparents watch their grandchildren grow up and pass on their knowledge to them. This gives their lives meaning. Science speaks of generativity. This prevents loneliness in old age. People cook together, explore new media, or do handicrafts together.
