Traditional dishes are often served, especially at the Kerwa, as the church fair is called in and around Bayreuth, but also on other religious holidays, although people in the festival city like hearty food just as much as everywhere else in Upper Franconia. At that time, some restaurants serve Kreefleisch, sour Bratwürscht, Käs-Querkla, Kretzaweckla, Unkrautwurst or a Gschling. The Beck'n Bräu tradition is also maintained.
