Handwerk und Mundwerk is an exhibition about traditional Valais foods and their production.
As part of her three-month artist residency in Bellwald, the Mongolian photographer Sunderiya Erdenesaikhan went in search of the traditional foods in Upper Valais. She not only met people who still know how our ancestors made cheese, butter and rye bread, but also visited companies that now produce these traditional Valais foods using modern machines. Her pictures take us from the craft to the mouth, which, as we know, is not only used for eating, but also for passing on experience and knowledge.
