Die Grosse Giuseppe Verdi Gala

Friday, 30. December 2022

Victoria Hall, Genève

Where would the music world be without the operas La Traviata or Aida? No Italian composer left such a rich musical legacy as Giuseppe Verdi!

Giuseppe Verdi wrote to his friend: «Maybe copying the real thing is a good thing, but inventing the real thing is better, much better».

All of the people portrayed in his operas correspond to this picture of truth, both then and now. Although in 2013 we celebrated the 200th anniversary of this great composer's birth, we cannot let go of the emotions of his gigantic works, which to this day continue to be presented as vividly as if we were with him in his time.

He was very committed to his country. As early as 1842, the chorus "Va penserio" from the opera Nabucco became Italy's unofficial anthem. In 1874 Giuseppe Verdi was appointed Senator of Italy. In his music, Giuseppe Verdi shows us great love and at the same time tragedy in a brilliant way in depictions such as Violetta Valery from La traviata, Aida or Rigoletto. His works exude great passion and poetry, but also delight in humor and wit. Everything together finds its expression during this wonderful concert.

In the program you can hear the world's most popular and at the same time most famous fragments of his opera performances such as La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida. Il trovatore, Nabucco, Vespri siciliani, etc.

Due to the current situation, the event has to be postponed from December 30, 2021 to December 30, 2022. The booked tickets remain valid.
