The World Snooker Association (WPBSA) organizes the World Snooker Championship every year. The first event was in 1927. It is the most important snooker tournament in the world and also the end of the season of the Main Tour. From the very beginning, snooker was extremely dominated by British players. Apart from two Australians, one Canadian and one Irishman, all world champions from 1927 to 2018 came from the United Kingdom.
