“pascal” is the latest solo project by Cologne composer, trumpeter and painter Pascal Klewer, in which he presents vulnerable and emotional song structures about the struggle with mental health and the attempt to dismantle toxic masculinity from within.
Pascal has been shaping the German jazz scene for several years, starting with his concert series “Pascal Klewer Bigband meets”, with guests such as Peter Brötzmann, Evan Parker, Christopher Dell, Kit Downes, Kathrin Pechlof, through his “222 Festival”, which co-organizes the series “Monday Meetings”, his own label “sts sts records”, to his ensemble “The Consistency Of Destruction”. Other activities and roles include curating your own interdisciplinary exhibitions, working with the WDR big band, composing for ARD or appearing as a soloist at the Handel Festival. Pascal is a winner of the “Federal Jazz Orchestra Composition Prize”, the “New German Jazz Prize for Composition” and the “Land Hessen Composition Prize” and has also worked as a sideman in projects such as “Fallen Crooner” and the “Aurora Octet”.
