Mountain world: a balancing act between fascination and danger?

Stapferhaus, Lenzburg

Conversation with outdoor influencer Anita Brechbühl («Travelita») and mountain guide Hampi Schoop

Whether it's solitary tours or selfies on the viewing terrace: more and more people are drawn to the mountains. This is evidenced by the record number of overnight stays in SAC huts. At the same time, more and more fatal accidents are occurring in the Swiss Alps and animals are increasingly being driven out of their territories by hikers and unauthorized camping. How can a balancing act between fascination, danger and respect for the mountains be successful?

Hampi Schoop is a mountain guide and was on the management team of the Alpine mountain rescue service in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. He and his family run a mountain inn at 2085 m above sea level.

Anita Brechbühl is a spatial and traffic planner. For more than ten years she has been blogging as an outdoor influencer under the pseudonym "Travelita" and gives hiking and excursion tips on social media.

This conversation is taking place as part of the exhibition "Nature. And us?". The entire series of discussions "Nature. And now?": https://stapferhaus.ch/und-jetzt
