"The problem is: marriage is like a computer. You can take it apart to see what's inside, but then you end up with a hundred thousand individual parts in your hand" Tom
Tom and Luise need to talk. They have been married for 15 years and have two children who they love. But somehow things aren't going well anymore. They agree on one thing: they don't want to give up their marriage without a fight. So the two of them go to couples therapy and meet in the pub before each session. Ten times in ten weeks they get in the mood for the sessions over a drink, discuss setbacks, progress and speculate about the other guests.
Nick Hornby has become a world-famous best-selling author since "High Fidelity" and "About a Boy". With "State of the Union" he has written a book of punch lines about marriage. Stephen Frears has successfully made a film of the episodes under the same title. With his incomparable humor and eye for likeable antiheroes, Nick Hornby shows us a completely normal married couple and the funny side of a marital crisis.
