Winter exhibition in the baroque hall of the monastery library
Manuscripts are unique. They are particularly valuable if they are also unique, for example if they are the only ones to transmit an important text that is of general importance.
But many unique things are also intimate and inconspicuous, such as a personal letter or a scribble in the margin. The St.Gallen Abbey Library has many documents that are unique in one way or another. They are at the center of this exhibition. This also raises the question of what exactly uniqueness is and how it can arise.
