Where silk, machines and people took center stage
"Sidi" stands for "Winterthur Silk Fabric Weaving Mill", which was founded in 1871. The oldest building structure includes the high chimney and the boiler house with the two fire tube boilers. On a tour you will learn interesting facts about the history of the silk industry in Winterthur, the special material silk and the people in the harsh, industrial environment of the time. The highlight is a visit to the old boiler heating system.
