READING FROM «WENDESCHLEIFE»

Wendeschleife tells the story of Anna and Oliver. Anna works in a nursing home, loves to travel and regularly offers other travelers her sofa as an overnight stay. One of her guests is Oliver, a young American who is traveling around Europe with an Interrail ticket. The two get along well right away and he immerses himself in her world for a few days. But then he doesn't return from a trip to Zermatt...

Wendeschleife is Regula Portillo's third novel. Schwirrflug was published in 2017, Andersland in 2020. For Andersland she was awarded the Literature Prize of the Canton of Bern in 2020. In 2021 she received the Literature Prize of the Canton of Solothurn. She lives with her family in Bern and works as a copywriter in a communications agency.

"Regula Portillo's texts lead us into life: reading them means exploring our existence. That is literature for me." Franco Supino

Moderation: Michael Bucher
The Bernese moderator and master of ceremonies likes art and culture with a broad global context. He has already lived on 5 continents and is currently immersing himself once again in "foreign" cultures in a joint project in Emmental.
