The Relais du St-Bernard is hosting the exhibition "Les Tschäggättä" from February 1st, 2024 to March 31st, 2024.
From February 1st, 2024 to March 31st, 2024 you can visit the exhibition “The Tschäggättä” in the motorway service station. The Tschäggättä are the carnival characters of the Lötschental. They wear masks made of pine wood, sheep or goat skins and cowbells. The carvers usually make the masks for themselves and for their colleagues for the sole purpose of making the masked carnival trips. It is not known where the masks originally come from. The Tschäggättä usually form the back of the procession in the traditional carnival parade in Wiler.
