Our world heritage celebrates this with the special exhibition “Traditional Irrigation” in the World Nature Forum.

Water pipes, so-called bisses, have been supplying the cultural landscape in Valais with the necessary water for centuries. A similar system can be observed in the water mats in Oberaargau. As part of a multinational candidacy, both traditional irrigation techniques have recently been added to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. We would like to invite you to the joint celebration and opening on March 21, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the World Nature Forum. Exciting insights into traditional European irrigation techniques and their communal forms of organization are provided. In addition, concrete practical examples are shown. The vernissage begins at 7 p.m., and in the following hour various input presentations as well as the opening and visit to the “Traditional Irrigation” exhibition are part of the program. Afterwards an aperitif will be offered. The special exhibition will be on display at the WNF until the end of September. Link to the website: https://wnf.ch/traditionelle-bewaesserung/
