Of Malaria and Thousand Floods (2016, D, Martin Umbach, Florian Breier, Christian Stiefenhofer)
The Rhine flows through six countries, but no other people are as closely connected to it as the Germans. For them, it is "Father Rhine". Until the 19th century, many Rhine residents fell victim to malaria. Especially on the Upper Rhine, floods repeatedly turned the river banks into swampy brackish water areas - ideal for mosquitoes. The extent of the flood was never more catastrophic than in the summer of 1342.
