Daímōn! - feat. De­tec­tive Vam­py­res from Sa­turn

There is life in space! The planet "həʊl" in the constellation Draco is home to beings beyond imagination. As soon as excited humanity realizes this... a holo-TV show announces: "We are the first to provide you with images and performance for this scoop! Live!" But wait: haven't there always been narrative traces of the other, of the alien on earth? The normative society knows, unconsciously: the shape-shifters, the loners, the dropout communities - they are right in our midst. With "Daímōn!", his latest science fantasy piece, Christoph Rath humorously creates a stage cosmology on the resilience of queerness. While the audience races through unimagined worlds, old reflexes fire in the brain stem. A trial report takes us back to the 14th century: There, the young Javor is accused of having committed unimaginable crimes as a werewolf. Since then, disgust and fascination have mixed to create a sensational cocktail. And the fear of fear has spread through the history of ideas, right up to the cosmic commune, where bloodsuckers and scavengers worry about the nutritional value of their prey. But a new narrative pattern has slowly begun to permeate times and plot threads: artificial intelligences calculate the usability of otherness for their corporations in order to set up encounters of curiosity... A competition of appropriations breaks out, in which emotions are tapped raw and pop cultural codes are rebuilt on the fly. Neo-feudal liberalism, totalitarian terror and the exchange of bodily fluids in solidarity are at loggerheads. Only the identity-invoking, ritual performance of the acting collective forms the hub on which the world majority society, global queerness and kinky non-terrestrials can still orbit one another. Why is all this important? Because in the month of the performance, June, a comet from the constellation Draco crosses the Earth's orbit. Changes in magnetic fields will be measurable, as will repulsions and attractions between all kinds of life forms. This constellation is explored and celebrated by «Daímōn!». Finally, the encounter with the inhabitants of the planet «həʊl» will take its course.
