Concert and reading with ensemble histoirefuture, Matthias Klenota

On the glacier with the violin in your luggage: a forgotten chapter in music history? In the period from around 1550 to 1800 there was a lively exchange of music across the Alps, between the centers of the musical avant-garde in Italy and the cities and royal courts north of the Alps. The carriers of this transfer were the musicians themselves, who traveled mostly on foot and in life-threatening conditions, in an environment that has almost nothing in common with our travels today.
The ensemble histoirefuture follows the trail into the mountains and, through music, asks about inspiration in the wilderness, the relationship between music and nature, civilization and danger and the influence of the magnificent alpine space on art production. What has crossing the Alps done to generations of musicians? Can these traces be heard in the music?
concert
The musicians of the ensemble histoirefuture present a program with early baroque music, including by Mealli, Castello and Biber, that is as historically and critically sound as it is playful and humorous, as you have never heard it before. Supplemented with exciting travel reports from around 1600 and an audience discussion.

With Matthias Klenota and Eva Saladin (violin), Marc Pauchard (zinc), Giovanna Baviera (vocals, viola da gamba) and Halldór Bjarki Arnarson (harpsichord)
Panel discussion
