Edward Rosemore (Helmut Zierl) seems to have everything a man could wish for: He has a happy marriage with Kate (Mariella Ahrens), is very proud of his two children Eve (Vivien Wulf) and Cormick (Benjamin Trinks) and is the most successful ship broker in Cornwall. But as is so often the case, appearances are deceptive, because Edward doesn't have long to live. He decides not to inform his family about his brain tumor, but wants to prepare everything perfectly for the time after his death. Since Edward fears that his wife Kate will not open up to another man again after his death out of loyalty, he wants to bring Kate's childhood sweetheart and Eve's biological father George Armstrong (Patrik Fichte) back into her life. But his well-intentioned plan is ill-fated from the start, and misunderstandings and half-truths threaten to tear the family apart.
