Adelphi Quartet | Haydn, Britten u.a.

The Adelphi Quartet is actually a kind of European Union in miniature. The four members come from four different countries: Belgium, Spain, England and Germany. You studied with the Hagen Quartet at the Salzburg Mozarteum and received important inspiration from chamber music pope Eberhard Feltz, cellist Valentin Erben and composer György Kurtág. This was promptly reflected in competition successes, for example at the Wigmore Hall Competition in London, at the Premio Paolo Borciani in Italy and at the Heidelberg Spring String Quartet Festival. “What unites us?” asks the quartet - and of course they know the answer: “Spontaneity, fun, doubt, perfection, stress, adrenaline, basic trust, fear, joy, madness and again and again: music, music, music.” There should be no shortage of that at the Lucerne debut. The Adelphi Quartet has devised a sophisticated program, with the founding father of the genre Joseph Haydn at the beginning and a 20th century classic, Benjamin Britten, at the end. In between, the four let the Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso enter into a dialogue with two premieres. If that's not for the curious!
